In 2017, as part of the official calendar of the Italian Presidency of G7, The Young Ambassador Society and the G7 Italy organized the G7 Youth Summit – Y7, the official Youth Engagement Group of the G7 Summit.
It represented a unique opportunity for young generations to make an impact on global policy by elaborating concrete proposals on the themes of the G7 agenda. During the Summit, the young delegates produced a Final Communique that has been handed over to the Italian G7 Presidency.
What is the G7 Youth Summit – Y7?
The Y7 and Y20 Summits are the official engagement groups of the G7 and G20 summits. The Y7 and Y20 summits are premier international youth conferences that bring together young leaders representing the G7 and G20 countries. The conferences allow young delegates from these countries to gather, to discuss ideas and put forth recommendations concerning the global agenda discussed in the leaders’ G7 and G20 summit. The schedule of the youth summits parallels that of the leader’s summit; the outcome is a Final Communique’ containing proposals from the Young delegates that is passed on to the leader’s summit to make the voice of young people heard.

The theme of the G7 Youth Summit was “Rethinking Innovation as catalyst for an inclusive, open and sustainable growth”. This was in line with one of the three pillars of the G7 Italian Presidency: “Innovation, Skills and Labour in the Age of the Next Production Revolution”
